چکیده
The paper investigates the effects of climate change on riverine ecosystems in Upper Arno River basin, adopting a hybrid methodology relating changes streamflow to its related water ecosystem services. Twenty hydrological models were run using Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), under their respective model emission scenario. variable obtained was analysed according method Indicators Hydrologic Alteration (IHA). development spatial maps IHA allowed us represent results three river subbasins studied, with focus presence hotspots. Using capture quantity dynamics, through groups magnitude, timing rates, where potential effect could be then linked concept Finally, presented as proxy that can integrated into existing Driver, Pressure, State, Impact, Response (DPSIR) management framework eventually move towards an ecosystem-based methodology. main results, induced from Mann–Kendall trend analysis IHA, suggested provisioning regulating services are affected by flows shows decreasing several scenarios, addition intensification extreme events. This shift is accompanied dynamics flow, which holds affecting habitat suitability. Climate change, biotic interactions and ecosystem services.
Climate change is real. The wrangling debates are over, and we now need to move onto a predictive ecology that will allow managers of landscapes and policy makers to adapt to the likely changes in biodiversity over the coming decades. There is ample evidence that ecological responses are already occurring at the individual species (population) level. The challenge is how to synthesize the growi...
متن کاملPredicting climate change effects on wetland ecosystem services using species distribution modeling and plant functional traits
Wetlands provide multiple ecosystem services, the sustainable use of which requires knowledge of the underlying ecological mechanisms. Functional traits, particularly the community-weighted mean trait (CWMT), provide a strong link between species communities and ecosystem functioning. We here combine species distribution modeling and plant functional traits to estimate the direction of change o...
متن کاملstudy of climate change on hydrological drought
daily discharge data of 12 hydrometric recording stations in atrak river basin were manipulated to calculate low flows for 7-day duration for studying hydrological drought using regional analysis method. using regression models, the low flows for 7-days duration of 10-year return period were calculated and regional low flows were estimated for 20 stations. daily data in each station used to sim...
متن کاملClimate change effects on aquatic biota, ecosystem structure and function.
Climate change is projected to cause significant alterations to aquatic biogeochemical processes, (including carbon dynamics), aquatic food web structure, dynamics and biodiversity, primary and secondary production; and, affect the range, distribution and habitat quality/quantity of aquatic mammals and waterfowl. Projected enhanced permafrost thawing is very likely to increase nutrient, sedimen...
متن کاملClimate change mitigation and ecosystem services: A stochastic analysis
Degradation of ecosystem services may be a major component of climate change damage, and incorporation of this factor could significantly alter the significance of uncertainty in climate-economy modeling. However, this aspect has been little investigated by economic analyses of climate change and uncertainty. We apply standardized numerical techniques of stochastic optimization to this research...
